6 months of blogging: from desperation to Adsense Super Saiyan

In short

Let's go deeper

Exactly 6 months ago - day plus day less - I launched online madmantech.it and it was a Fantastic trip, imbued with anxieties, paranoia, emotions and lots and lots and lots of satisfaction.

I never thought I'd get to this day, to experience these emotions and especially P*****A THE MISERY THAT PERFORMANCE ANXIETY.

Do you think that I even found a job as a UX Designer thanks to this nice blog, fuck off!

But how did it all start?

And especially, what was the fruit of these first 6 months?

The advent of the most beautiful technology blog in Italy

I remember that day vividly, January 4, 2022.

It was Saturday - if I'm not mistaken, I don't want to check it out, let's take it for granted - and I was SO BORED that I thought it best to leave 5 minutes of space for lateral thinking that promptly exclaimed:

LET'S START A BLOG CALLED MADMANTECH, LET'S PLAY QUALITY IRREVERENTS.

Overwhelmed with excitement, I immediately wrote to my dear partner Davide, an expert in marketing and all those beautiful and innovative things, who immediately approved the idea with a WOOOOOW.

That said, two hours later madmantech.it was already online with domain, SEO optimization and a beautiful face.

The shortened name was' mmt 'which, pronounced out loud, becomes' mamta '- literally 'your mother' in Terronese - but that was fine.

The Valley of Despair

I was ready, very busy and with 5 or 6 articles already written.

I'm launching them online.

Nobody reads them.

BUT REALLY NOBODY HUH.

ONLY I WAS READING THEM.

So there was a problem.

I start studying SEO, keywords, headings, core web vitals, cocks and decks and after a couple of good reviews here are the first results:

10 CLICKS PER DAY WOOOOW THAT SUCKS.

BUT better than nothing isn't it?

Proud of my beautiful - and very few - clicks, I get the brilliant idea to start monetizing with Google Adsense.

Adsense rejects me three times.

F***A F***A.

MORALE ON THE GROUND.

So fuck off, I keep writing crap, news and quality reviews.

Towards Easter I launch 5 articles online in two days and as if by magic the clicks start to increase.

GOOGLE HAS FINALLY NOTICED ME.

Still no Adsense though, rejected again: ')

The problem with online projects is absolute loneliness in a sea of sharks, competition and algorithms.

The visibility is zero and the only weapons we little creators have are essentially two:

  • quality of content, essential to scale and position yourself better than others
  • determination, without a goal and strong motivations we are screwed

La Valley of Despair, a term taken beautifully from a Live by Dario Vignali and Andrea Giuliodori, is an ever-present phase during the launch of new online projects that consists, trivially, of a period ranging from 6 to 12 months in which literally no one can find us.

Online there is not the mother who thinks that her son is the most beautiful of all, Are we the mothers of our projects and the children of others are more beautiful and grown-up, there's nothing to do guys.

So how do you overcome desperation?

Doing, writing, publishing without ever giving up.

The best comes sooner or later, now let's talk about it.

Rebranding and the Adsense method

While I was writing technology articles on madmantech.it my professional life, of course, was going on.

I had just finished developing my Startup site: Update Labs.

Su updatelabs.it we deal with Digital Transformation and we help SMEs to keep up with the times, developing digital products useful for their business.

So The Update site had to be perfectIn short, my swan song.

It's a mix of design, accessibility, usability and best practices accompanied by a beautiful brand identity.

For fun I'm asking for the approval of updatelabs.it on Adsense, with 3 articles online.

APPROVED.

So.

OUT OF A BANG.

But then why madmantech.it But wasn't it good for Adsense?

Fault of the name abbreviated to Mamta?

I already said that I never give up?

I decide to play it all for everything by doing a total rebranding with new logo, new colors and especially new pages and additional information.

The result, currently online, was a perfect mix between:

  • Design and user experience
  • Usability and accessibility
  • SEO optimization

Before rebranding

After the rebranding

According to me In Adsense I am a fan of Dragon Ball, among the various additions there is also the About page whose most beautiful phrase I quote:

I am a bit crazy and all tech guy who decided to make his passion a job, with the desire to change the world tattooed on his heart and the energy of a Super Saiyan to actually do it.

MADMANTECH APPROVED FOR ADSENSE.

Toh, here's the Adsense method: you must be Super Saiyans.

It changes everything.

Bombproof Business Plan

Finally I can Scale the business! It flies aaaaaa.

I'll explain to you on the fly how it works madmantech.it and how much am I earning as transparently as possible:

  • All articles are about a product, so In each review all product links are affiliated with Amazon from which I earn a percentage (from 2 to 10%) on each item ordered.
  • In each article there are automatic Adsense advertisements (the nice little banner before the title), obviously optimized to have the best possible user experience
  • I built a shop, still in beta phase and under development, where there is a collection of reviewed and recommended tech devices where you can read reviews, specifications and even compare.
Obviously this is not an e-commerce and every purchase link takes you back to Amazon, the best platform in the world for buying products online

How much do I earn after 6 months?

Do you want the truth? Very little.

With Amazon affiliations, I started earning 3 months ago, an average of 50€/month.

What about the much coveted, coveted and desired Adsense?

2 cents a day AHAHAHAHAHA.

Present and future of the most beautiful blog in Italy

I admit, I have creative block, performance anxiety and fear of success.

AND This article is a great excuse to start over to write.

But why all these strange emotions and fear?

As already mentioned before, Is the online launch of a digital project really controversial and definitely difficult.

It's an uphill road, like climbing Everest, to be tackled in total solitude for at least a year.
The satisfactions come but they are sipped and in the end only those most determined to overcome the Valley of Despair are able to finally reach the glimmer of light - and gain - so desired for months.

The future is thriving

What will happen from now on? Let's go in order:

  • Article boost, stop whining anxious about being successful or not
  • Shop optimization, there will be dozens of “reviews on the fly” in which in a few lines I say what I think of a product
  • Voiceover of all articles, you deserve to hear my wonderful voice
  • Here comes the irreverent, extremist and super vertical PODCAST on technology

If you have read this article you are great, maybe you are also the only one hahaha
