In short
- Telegram Premium costs €5.99 per month
- Adds new functions and enhances existing ones
- It will be available with version 8.8 of Telegram
Let's go deeper
In the flourishing era of digital subscriptions, here is a new amazing and, in my opinion, useless monthly subscription plan: Telegram Premium.
Telegram, with 700 million monthly active users, has just launched its brand new subscription plan that allows users to unlock additional features not available to free users.
Obviously don't panic, the app will remain free with all the functions we've come to love about the most beautiful messaging app ever.
New Telegram Premium features
Curious huh?
Here is the list of additional features for Telegram Premium subscribers:
- Upload files up to 4GB (the limit for free users is 2GB)
- Faster file and image downloads
- Possibility to follow up to 1,000 channels (the limit for free users is 500)
- Possibility to create 20 chat folders with a maximum of 200 chats each
- Possibility to set up to 10 chats on the main list
- Possibility to save up to 10 favorite stickers
- Insert a longer bio with added links
- Possibility to select up to 400 favorite GIFs
- Possibility to add more characters to photo and video captions
- Possibility to create up to 20 public t.me links
- Converting voice messages to text (awesome!)
- A Premium collection of stickers with animations and monthly updates
- New emojis for reactions
- New tools for managing chats, such as the ability to change the preferred chat folder and to automatically archive or mute new chats
- Animated profile picture (wow -_-)
- New premium badge for your account
- New icons for the app
- No advertisements
In short, only the first function on the list seems to be interesting, the others seem like a big premium lark mirror to me.
Premium subscription cost
The cost of Telegram Premium is 5.99€ per month and will be available with the update to version 8.8 of the app that will be available in a few days for everyone.
New version 8.8 for everyone
Obviously, the news also comes for free users who with version 8.8:
- Access request for public groups
- New verification badge in chats (to immediately know if the messages come from a verified source)
- Improved bots, developers can include photos and videos to explain to users what the bot does and, finally, some bots can also work in groups and channels
- Improvements to external large file sharing (which will now show a new animated progress bar)
- Miscellaneous bug fixes and optimizations
Conclusions
In short, in my opinion Telegram Premium is something really useless considering the cost of 5.99€ per month and The additional functions are nothing more than “boost” of the already present free from which very few users are likely to benefit.
As already mentioned, perhaps the only really interesting new feature is the ability to upload files up to 4GB.
Let's face it, was there really a need for such a subscription?
It seems to me only an operation to make as much money as possible, I would rightly say, from the 700 million average monthly users.
And what do you think? Will you subscribe?
