In short
Let's go deeper
Let's face it, we're all eagerly waiting to see the new Macbook Air M2 models.
Expectations are skyrocketing because, almost certainly, the Next generation MacBook Air, expected in 2022, will have a significant change in design.
It will be the Greatest re-design of the MacBook Air since 2010 when Apple first released both 11-inch and 13-inch versions.
Let's expect a complete redesign along the lines of the 24" iMacs and let's analyze together all the rumors we've heard about the update so far.
Design
Dite Goodbye to the characteristic tapered shape, which we have come to love, of the current MacBook Air.
The Air models, as you know, are thicker on the back and then taper to a thinner design on the front, but Apple will instead choose a shape more similar to the new 14" and 16" MacBook Pros to maintain design continuity across the laptop line.
The long-awaited MacBook Air M2 will be thinner and lighter than the current model, with design elements from both the MacBook Pro and the 24-inch iMac.
It is said that the computer will, in fact, have subtle white frames and a matching white keyboard, with the chassis available in different shades similar to those of the iMac.
Display
In 2021, Apple introduced the long-awaited Mini-LED display with the MacBook Pro and, according to rumors, the Macbook Air could also use this type of display in the future.
We don't know if it will have a notch (🤢) like the current MacBook Pro, but if the edges of the display are thin enough, it could happen.
However, and thankfully I would say, since a notch would be more evident on a white frame, Apple may choose not to include it.
Naming
According to leaker Dylandkt, Apple may be planning to stop using the name 'Air' for its low-end computers, using a naming similar to that of the fantastic 12-inch MacBook which, to date, is no longer in production.
Keyboard
The MacBook Air keyboard should be similar to that of the MacBook Pro, without a Touch Bar and with function keys.
For the Pro models, Apple has completely covered the entire keyboard in black. In the case of the new Air, in the face of a design that will catch the eye of 24" iMacs, it could perhaps use white rather than black.
Camera
Come on what is the right time to see a 1080p camera in MacBook Air, the current 720p version is indecent.
Porte
With the ever-increasing trend toward miniaturization and hyperconnectivity, it's highly unlikely that the MacBook Air will include an SD card slot or HDMI port, keeping these features reserved for Pro models to further distinguish them.
Apple Silicon M2, let's wait.
As is obvious to expect, the “M2” processor would be under development and It will almost certainly arrive on the new MacBook Air in 2022.
Obviously, the new Apple M2 will not be as powerful as the newly introduced high-end 'M1 Pro' and 'M1 Max' chips, used in MacBook Pro models, but it will be a more efficient version of the 'less powerful' M1.
In fact, the new M2 chip could have the same number of computing cores as the current M1 (eight), but it should offer greater speed.
It could also include improved graphics, with 9 or 10 GPU cores compared to the 7 or 8 GPU cores of the current MacBook Air M1.
Renders
Let's take a look at the renders.
At first glance They know about toy computers, but let's wait to touch them first hand.
Release date of the new Macbook Air M2
Apple is expected to release the new MacBook Air with M2 chip in 2022, but a specific launch date has not been set:
- According to Business Insider, mass production will start at the end of the second quarter or the beginning of the third quarter, with a possible launch around September
- According to Bloomberg, the new 'MacBook Air' will instead be released in autumn.
If Apple complies with the 2020 and 2021 timelines, definitely we will have the presentation of the MacBook Air M2 in October 2022, just after the iPhone 14 launch event in September.
